Commonpoint Aquaflames Competitive SWIM TEAM
Sanctioned by USA Swimming

The Aquaflames Swim Team is a year-round USA swim program that benefits athletes and prepares them for success during competitions. Practice sessions teach discipline, sportsmanlike conduct, swimming technique, racing skills, and aerobic development in a positive social environment. As swimmers graduate from each level, they develop mentally, emotionally and physically. Absolute commitment is necessary for every swimmer in order for them to reach their maximum swimming potential.

The goal of our team is to prepare your swimmer to compete at a high level in swim meets, make cuts for championship meets like Silvers, Jr Mets, and Zones, and develop a great balance between swimming and life and a growth mindset through training.

Competitive swimming is broken into two seasons – short course (25 yards) from September to March, and long course (50 meters) from May to July. The seasons begin with meets and developmental practices, and builds to championship meets, many of which require specific time cuts to participate. Short course championship meets are in February and March; long course championships are in July.

Our team is a part of two different swimming leagues. Metropolitan Swimming is the Local Swim Committee (LSC) we are in, which includes all USA Swimming sanctioned teams south of Albany in New York State. We are also in a NYC-based league called Metro Swim League (MSL).

Metro Swim League is our competitive swim league. We swim against teams in MSL 4-5 times a season, and then we compete in the MSL Championships against them. All of our swimmers (regardless of age and training group) are required to compete in the MSL Championships, which means they are also required to participate in at least 3 MSL meets throughout the season (see the meet schedule from last year below).
