ESOL/English Classes (Adults)
INTERESTED IN FREE HYBRID ENGLISH CLASSES?
COMMONPOINT is offering FREE ESL/ESOL classes for people living in NYC regardless of citizenship status! Beginner, Intermediate, and Upper level EVENING classes available in person and online!
Eligibility
- Living in an New York City (NYC) for at least 184 days ( 6 months)
- Can provide some form of identification
- NO United States Citizenship or US documentation needed. (ALL immigration status welcomed!)

Virtual – Tuesday and Thursday, Evening (6-9pm)

GED/Training Programs (Ages 16-24)
If you are you between the ages of 16-24 years old and do not have a High School Diploma but are looking for a great career? This is for you!
Eligibility
- Young people between the ages of 16 and 24 years old
- Residents of one of the five boroughs of New York City
- Currently not working or in school
Commonpoint provides GED Readiness Classes for those seeking to earn their High School Equivalency Diploma ages 17-24. In addition to academic classes, we also provide the following benefits:
- Financial Incentives for Academic Improvement and Participation
- Paid Internship Opportunities
- Comprehensive Case Management Support
- Work Readiness and Support Skills Classes
- Technology Assistance as needed
- College/Career Exploration Support
- Valuable Job Credentialing or Certification Opportunities
- Past Certifications offered include MOS, Security Guard, and National Retail Federation
- Assistance with signing up for the GED Exam
GED program will run for 20 weeks and you can expect to receive a weekly stipend or a paid internship.

For individuals ages 18-24 who already have a HS diploma or equivalent, and who are not enrolled in college and don’t have a college degree, we offer a variety of high-demand certifications.
Medical certifications include EKG/Phlebotomy Tech, Certified Nurse Assistant, and Pharmacy Tech

We also offer a Construction Training program. Construction training will run for 6-8 weeks and you can expect to receive job opportunities upon completing your certifications. Certifications include OSHA 30, 10 Hr Site Safety Training, 4 Hr Scaffold, 4 Hr Flagger, Silicia Awareness, F-60 Prep/Test, and NCCER CORE.

Construction Training Programs (Ages 18-40)
Are you between the ages of 18-40 and interested in FREE OSHA Construction training and licensing? Join us for our NEW OSHA construction training and certification with DYCD Connect in the Bronx! Get paid while completing your training and internship!
Eligibility
- Adults between the ages of 18 and 40 years old
- Residents of one of the five boroughs of New York City
- No HS Diploma or GED required
Get certified in 6-8 weeks! The full program includes classes, certification, paid work experience/internship, professional development, and work readiness training (up to 24 weeks). Must attend all sessions Mondays – Fridays beginning March 10 from 9-5:30pm. Certifications include:
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Course
- Site Safety Training (SST)
- FDNY Certificate of Fitness for Fire Guard for Torch Operations.
- 4-Hour Supported Scaffold User Safety Training.
- Four Hour Work Flagger Training.
- OSHA Silica

- Eligible to work in the US
The full program includes tuition-free classes from an accredited school, certification, paid work experience/internship, job placement assistance, and case management & referrals. Get paid $20 an hour during orientation, training, and internship!

We’re excited to be launching summer camp at the Commonpoint Bronx Center for ages 5-15! Activities include:

Health & Wellness Programs
We are excited to bring our swim instruction to the Commonpoint Bronx Center coming this Spring! Thanks to the support of DYCD, we are launching a FREE 8 week swim program for ages 5-17 beginning May 4! We are currently at capacity for our Free Spring Swim Session and are no longer able to accept new participants – stay tuned for future swim programs!
Our program focuses on building water comfort, safety skills, and progressively developing swimming abilities through structured levels, with the goal of teaching individuals to confidently enjoy the water while minimizing risks and preventing drowning incidents. All classes are taught by certified Water Safety Instructors and based on the Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program. Our program will soon offer swimming lessons for people of all ages, from infants to adults – fill out our interest form here to stay in touch!
Coming soon this Spring, become a member to access our gym, pool, fitness center, and more for just $30 a month for a limited time only! Membership includes access to our pool, gym/fitness center, basketball courts, discounted rates to classes, and more!
