
Craig Lastres
Chief Operating Officer
After 15 years of working part-time for Commonpoint and full-time as a teacher in the NYC DOE, Craig became the agency’s Chief Operating Officer in 2022. His portfolio consists of the agency’s maintenance, transportation, technology, health and wellness, summer pool clubs, sleepaway camp, and food divisions.
Craig has been heavily involved in major projects with the agency for some years now, but he got his start at Commonpoint during his childhood as a member of the Bay Terrace Pool and Tennis Center. Craig was hired as a lifeguard as soon as he got his working papers and climbed the ladder to become a manager at the club just a few years later. His no-nonsense approach to safety and customer service made him one of the most recognizable people in our Bay Terrace community, and has led to thousands of young people being trained to become certified lifeguards and water safety instructors, as well as first-aid and CPR administrators. Craig’s ability to manage and lead at Bay Terrace led to him overseeing efforts at the Tanenbaum Pool when Commonpoint took it over in 2014.
Craig has also led major capital projects, and took the lead in keeping our staff, community members and buildings safe over the past 15 months, overseeing our maintenance, transportation, Business Continuity committee, food delivery operations and so much more. In his spare time, Craig enjoys country music and hanging out in his backyard with his wife and his two children.
