Overview

Commonpoint Queens’ Older Adult programming aims to offer fresh, innovative and engaging programs for our members. We offer a full range of social, recreational and educational activities that have been carefully designed to address the specific needs of older adults.

Activities and Programs include a variety of day and evening offerings both virtually and in person such as:

  • A variety of stimulating classes and courses
  • Technology tutoring
  • Small discussion groups led by qualified leaders
  • Jewish cultural experiences and opportunities including monthly welcome Shabbat program
  • Wonderful programs featuring a guest lecturer or author
  • Various special events and performances throughout the year
  • Health chats.

Our programs seek to reach out to those looking to broaden their social, spiritual and cultural horizons. We aim to enrich and enhance the quality of life of all of our members.

Here are a few of our upcoming programs/events. Please note that many of these programs are run via ZOOM and pre-registration is REQUIRED.   • PD SUPPORT GROUP – 11:30 AM every Wednesday, for caregivers and those with Parkinson’s Disease to share information and knowledge and insights
  • CHAT WITH FRIENDS ON FRIDAY – 11:30 AM on Fridays, call-in and share your thoughts and feelings on life.
  • WELCOME SHABBAT – Once a month Fridays at 1:00 PM. Attend our virtual gathering to restore your spiritual energy and enter a time of healing.
  • LET’S GET REAL – 11:00 AM on Mondays – Anything goes in this lively discussion group: We’ll chat about whatever is on your mind
  • BRAINWORKS – 11:00 AM on Mondays – Join us as we keep our minds sharp and active, through games and exercises, trivia and meditation. We will tickle your brain!
  • PAINTING – 1:00 PM on Mondays – Express yourself artistically; no experience required!
  • COZY CORNER – 11:30 AM on Tuesdays – Chat with friends while working on your favorite pastime: knitting, needlepoint, crocheting, crossword puzzling, coloring, etc
  • BINGO – TUESDAYS AT 12:30 PM
  • ISRAELI FOLK DANCING – Wednesdays from 12:45 PM to 2:15 PM. Honey Goldfein is back! Honey will teach basic Israeli dances, and the dance steps that are used. The dances will include circle and line styles, both old and new.
  • HEBREW ULPAN – Thursdays from 1:00 to 2:30 PM. Beginners through advanced students welcome
  • HOT TOPICS WITH STAN – Fridays from 10:15 AM to 11:30 AM. Join Stan to chat about anything that catches your interest.
