Juanito Vargas

Juanito is a New York State licensed clinical social worker with over 25 years of experience in the social services arena. As the Vice President of Adult Programs, Juanito oversees Commonpoint’s Mental Health Services, Older Adult Services, and Workforce Services divisions.

Juanito joined the Commonpoint team in 2022 after spending ten years as the Vice President of Community and Digital Services at Safe Horizon, where he oversaw a portfolio of diverse programs including the Safe Horizon Anti-Trafficking Program, Community Programs, Hotlines and SafeChat. Juanito has also been a leader at organizations like LifeNet/Mental Health Association of New York City, ValueOptions Behavioral Health Managed Care Company, Soundview Throggs Neck CMHC/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Visiting Nurse Service of New York, providing a diverse array of advocacy, mental health crisis intervention and trauma-focused care.

In his free time Juanito loves to bake, which he says “isn’t a good thing for someone who loves pastries,” and he recently perfected his recipe for cinnamon rolls!
