Youth Family Development Coach, High School and College Success

Joyce Perez started working for Commonpoint in February 2023 as a Family Development Coach at John Bowne HS under Commonpoint’s High School College & Success team, NDA program. In her role, she provides ongoing social/emotional support for up to 35 at-risk students who are struggling academically. Joyce works directly with her young people to develop individualized academic and career development goals based on their interests and strengths, she connects her young people to quality programs, and collaborates with school personnel, tutors, specialists, and guardians as needed to support the young people’s goals and ensure their overall well-being. She also works on re-engages disconnected youth and helps them enroll in appropriate academic settings if the current one isn’t working. Joyce has a bachelor’s degree in social work and has always had a passion for working with children and young adults. For Joyce, working with at-risk youth is a calling, and she uses all the resources she has at her disposal to ensure positive outcomes. Joyce has 10+ years working experience in various programs, agencies, and departments working with at-risk youth. Joyce’s goal in the future is to have her own non-profit coaching program to work at at-risk communities’ centers, with their youths.
