NORC WOW, a Neighborhood NORC Supportive Service Program offers social work and nursing services, educational and recreational activities to all individuals 60 and over living in one and two family homes within the boundaries of Glen Oaks Village & 76th Ave on the North, 86th Ave on the South, Cross Island Pkwy on the West and Langdale Ave on the East. Neighborhood NORC Supportive Service Programs are designed to serve communities where a majority of residents have “aged in place.” The program’s goal is to help older adults remain safely in their own homes as long as possible. NORC WOW is a Membership Organization. For a nominal membership fee, you or your loved one can enjoy all the benefits of membership.

Services for NORC WOW members include:

SOCIAL WORK SERVICES

  • Individual and family supportive Counseling in the office or your home
  • Long-term planning
  • Information about Medicare, Medicaid, and prescription plans
  • Assistance understanding and securing government benefits and entitlements for older adults
  • Function as a liaison between shareholders and clients
  • Referrals to community agencies providing services such as home health care, cleaning services, and more

LOW COST TRANSPORTATION

  • One-way to medical appointments
  • Round-trip to food shopping 
  • Round trip to the NORC office 

HEALTH CARE SUPPORT/PROMOTION

  • Nurse visits in your own home 
  • Monitoring of chronic health conditions 
  • Health care system advocacy 
  • Health education 
  • Medication monitoring 
  • Home safety assessments 
  • Immunizations and health screening programs 
  • Caregiver education and support 
  • Nutrition education 

COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS 

  • Socialization opportunities 
  • Exercise/wellness classes 
  • Community seminars 
  • Intergenerational programs 
  • Volunteer opportunities

NORC WOW’s goal is to create a supportive community that empowers older adults to take advantage of important services. These services promote successful aging and respond to the changing needs of members. By doing this, we can help them maintain their independence, improve their quality of life, and safely age in place.
