Commonpoint Queens Thanks Ponce Bank for a $1000 Grant and Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care Queens for a grant of $1200 in support of Making “no-sew” fleece blankets for children in need for Chanukah and Christmas
Queens, NY — Commonpoint Queens – formerly known as the Samuel Field Y and Central Queens Y – is very grateful to Ponce Bank for their support of our “no-sew” fleece blanket project for Hanukkah and Christmas. The project provided more than 150 double-layered, hand-knotted fleece blankets to families in need.
Twenty members of Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care Queens came on Tuesday, December 9, 2020, to deliver the 125 blankets their youth group made to Commonpoint Queens’ food pantry.
Jay Rojas, Food Pantry Coordinator said, “We see families struggling with food insecurity and many other needs every day at the pantry. Seeing children helping children is a bright spot. The blankets are very much needed and everyone loves them!”
Commonpoint Queens CEO, Danielle Ellman said, “On behalf of everyone at Commonpoint Queens we thank Ponce Bank and Shrimad Rajchandra Love and Care Queens for their support. We were able to provide more than 150 babies and children with wonderful cuddly blankets for the holidays. Each blanket was put together by one of our incredible team of volunteers of all ages. Truly a project that comes from and goes straight to the heart. We are very grateful for their support in helping us as we serve the community during this pandemic.”
