Commonpoint Celebrates Significant Milestones in the First Six Months of Funds Secured by Congresswoman Grace Meng through a Federal Grant

Thanks to the support of Congresswoman Grace Meng, Commonpoint has made substantial progress in its mission to support and empower job seekers. In the first six months of the reporting period, the Queens-based human services agency has achieved remarkable outcomes in its employment services and support programs, demonstrating their commitment to transforming lives and strengthening communities.
Key achievements to date include:
- 665 jobseekers enrolled in comprehensive employment services, receiving personalized support and guidance to secure sustainable employment.
- 501 individuals enrolled in vocational training programs, including young adults and adults. To date, 273 have successfully completed their training, with most remaining participants actively engaged and progressing toward completion.
- 351 clients placed in jobs, many of whom are continuing to enhance their skills through vocational training, work readiness workshops, and job placement support.
- Impressive retention rates, with 78% of eligible clients achieving a 90-day retention milestone, 74% achieving 180-day retention, and 66% reaching 365-day retention in their new roles.
- Competitive compensation with an average salary of $43,500 for full-time placements and an average wage of $19.10 per hour for part-time positions.
- 180 clients participated in internships, gaining valuable hands-on experience in their chosen fields.
- 60 individuals enrolled in GED classes, working towards high school equivalency and improved job prospects.
- 204 clients enrolled in ESOL classes, enhancing their English language skills to better integrate into the workforce.
- 96 clients received care from onsite licensed mental health clinic, addressing crucial mental health needs.
- 810 clients received benefits screening and application assistance, ensuring they accessed necessary resources and support.
- 1,966 individuals benefited from food packages through Commonpoint’s 10 food pantries, addressing food insecurity in our community.
