Marianela Miller

Case Manager, Resilience Program

Marianela is a case manager who primarily supports the migrant population, a role that feels especially meaningful given her own background. She helps individuals and families navigate complex systems, access resources, and build stability, offering support during challenging transitions. She is also proud to be the first in her family to graduate from college, earning a Bachelor of Science in Geology—an achievement that reflects her perseverance and continues to shape her approach to both work and life.

She is a first-generation immigrant to the U.S., originally from Cuba by way of Spain, and a long-time Queens resident. Her journey with Commonpoint began in 2014 when her son joined the Special Services program at Bay Terrace. She later participated in the Single Parent Program and was eventually hired in 2019 as a case worker, now part of the Resilience Program. Supporting families with experiences similar to hers makes the work deeply personal and rewarding.

Outside of work, she enjoys gardening and baking, both of which help her slow down and stay present. She also plays tennis regularly and enjoys watching professional matches. She loves to travel and has visited 27 countries so far—experiences that continue to inspire her perspective, cooking, and connection to different cultures.
