Jose Romero

Jose serves as Commonpoint’s Director of Impact, Research, and Evaluation. In this role, he oversees a portfolio that includes research and evaluation, staff professional development, impact assessment and reporting, performance evaluation, and organization-wide strategy projects. Drawing on his background in education and teaching, Jose brings a unique perspective to the nonprofit space, using data not only to motivate more impactful outcomes, but also to teach and empower others to use it as a tool for change.

Under his leadership and strategic vision, the Impact, Research, and Evaluation department was created to strengthen Commonpoint’s data culture and help staff feel more confident and supported in navigating data. The department builds systems that ensure assessments translate into meaningful change while advancing the organization’s growth.

Jose holds a Master’s in Education Policy and Leadership and is currently pursuing his doctorate in education, with research centered on mentorship in the nonprofit space. A first-generation Latino professional, he is driven by a passion for equity and access. Outside of work, Jose enjoys traveling, cooking, listening to music, and spending time with family.
