Jessie Ambrosio

Jessie Ambrosio is a dedicated Licensed Clinical Social Worker with a background as a practicing therapist and specialized training in psychoanalysis. They received their master’s degree from Adelphi University, where they honed their skills in clinical practice. Jessie began their journey at Commonpoint Queens as an intern in the Special Services Department in 2008, gaining valuable experience and a deep connection to the community. After graduation, they were hired as a Counselor Advocate in the High School & College Success Department, where they provided essential support and guidance to students navigating their academic and personal challenges. Now, as the Director of Specialty Programming at Commonpoint Queens’s Youth Opportunity Hub, Jessie oversees a variety of innovative programs designed to support young people aged 14-24. With a focus on holistic development, they ensure that each program meets the unique needs of the youth, helping them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Although they grew up on Long Island, Jessie developed a deep connection to the Queens community and has always been inspired by its diversity and resilience. They enjoy working at Commonpoint Queens because of the collaborative environment and the opportunity to make a tangible difference in young lives. Outside of work, Jessie finds joy in gardening, hiking, fishing, and cooking, activities that reflect their love for nature and creativity. Their dedication to sustainability and love for the outdoors often inspire the programs they develop at the Youth Opportunity Hub. As a non-binary individual (they/she), Jessie leads the initiative of LGBTQ programming for youth in the High School & College Success Department. Their work in the LGBTQ community is driven by a commitment to creating inclusive and supportive spaces where all young people can feel seen, heard, and valued. Jessie’s efforts have significantly contributed to the development of programs that address the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ youth, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment.
