Elise Lev

Program Director, Older Adult Center at Bay Terrace

Elise Lev graduated from Adelphi University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 1984. She initially embarked on a career as a Pension Actuary but later took a hiatus to raise her children and provide long-distance assistance to her parents. Subsequently, Elise transitioned to the role of Ombudsperson, serving as a NY State Certified Volunteer Resident Advocate for residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities. After three years in this capacity, she sought further professional development by returning to Adelphi in her mid-50s to earn a Master of Social Work (MSW) with a focus on Gerontology. Following her experience as a Social Worker at Commonpoint’s Sam Field Older Adult Center, Elise was promoted to Program Director at the newly opened Commonpoint’s Older Adult Center in Bay Terrace.

In addition to her role as Program Director, Elise leads various recreational, educational, cultural, and support groups. She has a particular expertise in assisting older adults who are dealing with loss. Furthermore, Elise provides Clinical Supervision to LMSWs in the Older Adult Department of the agency as they work towards achieving their LCSW credentials, in addition to supervising Social Work interns as they pursue their MSW degrees.

In her free time, Elise takes pleasure in attending concerts, studying Mah Jongg, and learning Spanish. She expresses her gratitude to the agency for fostering professional development within the organization.
