Aron Katayev
Resilience Program Coordinator, Initiative for Holocaust Survivors & Older Adults
Aron serves as the Resilience Program Coordinator for the Initiative for Holocaust Survivors & Older Adults at Commonpoint, where he has been a dedicated team member since 2021. In his role, he works closely with vulnerable older adults and Holocaust survivors, providing case management, advocacy, assistance with reparations, financial support, and meaningful opportunities for social connection. Aron takes a person-centered, trauma-informed approach to his work, with a strong focus on minimizing triggers and ensuring that each individual is supported with dignity, sensitivity, and respect. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Human Services with an emphasis in Mental Health Counseling from Touro College and a Master of Social Work (MSW) in Clinical Practice with Individuals, Families, and Groups from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College (CUNY). Known for his strong rapport-building skills, warmth, and empathy, Aron is deeply committed to making a positive impact in the lives of those he serves.
Aron is passionate about helping others and values being a source of support within the Jewish community. He is multilingual, fluent in Russian, English, and Bukharian, with some knowledge of Uzbek, which allows him to connect with diverse populations. Outside of work, he enjoys collecting coins and stamps, photography, and reading a wide range of non-fiction topics, including religion, self-improvement, and motivation. He also cherishes spending quality time with family and friends. A naturally driven and creative individual, Aron aspires to continue growing as a multilingual, client-centered clinician and feels grateful to be part of a profession that aligns so closely with his purpose and passion.
