In celebration of Immigrant Heritage Month, “Memories in Motion: Home Movies, Migration, and Belonging” is a free community event that invites residents to rediscover, preserve, and share their family histories through home movies. The program will focus on the digitization and preservation of analog video formats, including VHS, MiniDV, and Hi8 tapes, while providing participants with practical tools for managing and safeguarding their personal digital collections.
Through a combination of digitization demos, a personal digital archiving workshop, community screenings, and informal conversation over brunch, the event will help participants connect with their own family memories while learning preservation tips and strategies that ensure these recordings remain accessible for future generations.
This event is in partnership with Queens Memory Project, Forest Hills Asian Association, and Jewish Community Relations Council.
