The CAPE MIST program is offering a FREE Paper Shredding Event in the CAPE parking lot (59-28 Little Neck Parkway – on the corner of 60th avenue).
Come safely shred your personal documents *this is a first come first serve basis*. To pre-register contact Leora Ellison at 718-224-0566 or via email at lellison@commonpoint.org. This event is being hosted by the CAPE Mental Health Services MIST Program.
WHAT IS THE MIST PROGRAM?
Maintaining Independence and Safety through Technology (MIST) is a program in
partnership with Commonpoint, NYC Aging and Rego Park Counseling funded by the
Office of Mental Health. MIST engages older adults with screenings in clients’ homes or
communities and, based on their personal behavioral health, physical health, and aging
service needs, the program connects clients with needed services and technology to
reduce social isolation and loneliness. An individualized plan of care is created for each
client, including a home safety assessment, with clinical social workers and certified
peers.
WHAT IS AGING IN PLACE?
Aging in place is the practice of staying in your own home and community as you age.
It’s a way for older adults to live independently, safely, and comfortably, regardless of
their age, income, or ability level.
