Asset Based Interventions: Integrating the Creative Arts Therapies

Art, music, dance and drama can express one’s emotional state. Creative arts can then be strategically used to enrich the therapeutic process, especially for children, older adults, those with organic brain disease, survivors of trauma, and as a powerful tool in groupwork. This workshop will present each how each of these modalities can be used to help clients’ express thoughts and feelings, enhancing the therapeutic process in a non-threatening milieu. Discussion will include when to use or refer clients for art, music and dance/movement therapy, and how and when to use psychodrama. (In preparation for this participatory virtual workshop, please have a few blank sheets of paper available for your use as well as multi-color writing/drawing tools of your choice.)
