Commonpoint Gala – Steps to Stability
Commonpoint will hold its third annual Gala fundraiser on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at The Altman Building on 135 West 18th Street, New York. This year’s theme, “Steps to Stability,” encapsulates Commonpoint’s commitment to helping our most vulnerable neighbors reach long-term stability.
“The Gala aims to raise essential funds to support our programs, which empower individuals to achieve their full potential. Our individualized approach to bringing people from crisis to stability to empowered living makes us a unique and much-needed resource in communities where instability and uncertainty reach new heights. The significance of this event lies in uniting our community to invest in transformative change, ensuring a better tomorrow for everyone.” says Danielle Ellman, CEO of Commonpoint.
Commonpoint’s programs stretch throughout the five boroughs and include specialized services for individuals with disabilities, after-school programs, summer camps, adolescent education, a workforce development center, mental health care, programs for older adults, and health and wellness programs.
Commonpoint is proud to announce the honorees for its upcoming gala fundraiser, ‘Steps to Stability,’ which celebrates the individuals and partners who have made a significant impact in advancing their mission. They will honor Richard Tanenbaum this year with the Distinguished Service Award. The Tanenbaum family has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to Commonpoint for nearly six decades now, with Richard serving on Commonpoint’s board for 35 years and providing critical support to programs that serve children, adults, seniors, individuals with disabilities, etc. Mary Vaccaro, Vice President for Education of the UFT, will receive the Visionary Award. The leadership of Mary and the UFT has helped Commonpoint to expand our reach and educational offerings, leading to more opportunities for young adults pursuing their GED, as well as new partnerships with school communities and families. Commonpoint will also be presenting the Larry Gottlieb Leadership Award to David Slotnick, who has mentored hundreds of Commonpoint staff members with impactful leadership in camp, after school and operations initiatives for over four decades.
Attendees include entrepreneurs, corporate executives, and philanthropists who have demonstrated a strong commitment to social responsibility and community development. At the Gala, attendees can expect the opportunity to see Commonpoint programs in action during interactive demonstrations, inspiring keynote speakers, and silent auctions.
Members of the media are invited to attend on Wednesday, October 29th, from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm at The Altman Building on 135 West 18th Street, New York, NY 10011, for photos and video.
