Commonpoint’s youth programming was awarded Outstanding Contract Performance by The New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) at NYC Youth’s Million Dollar Giveback Hip-Hop Holiday Celebration on December 20th, 2024.

In partnership with Rainbow Apparel Co., Only One Clothing, and the Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD), The Million Dollar Giveback initiative’s purpose underscores the importance of giving back and uplifting future generations. New Break and The Source said over 500 teens participated, “making it one of NYC’s most impactful holiday gatherings.”

Celebrities and philanthropic organizations like Commonpoint were honored by DYCD for their involvement in inspiring the lives of young people throughout the city. Commonpoint’s award from DYCD was “In recognition of the dedication and tireless efforts of your agency, staff, and programs in making a meaningful impact in our communities. Your collective hard work and commitment inspires change and transforms lives in the neighborhoods we serve.”

For the last three decades, Commonpoint has been a trusted partner of DYCD. They are currently providing resources for young people and families in approximately 50 elementary, middle and high schools, as well as youth employment and opportunity youth education and employment programs across New York City.

“Our after-school and high school and college success programs offer a wide range of critical social and educational resources to youth in our community to empower and equip them for a pathway to success in the future. As a result, high school seniors in our programs have a 97% graduation rate compared to the 88% graduation rate in New York State. That’s huge, and we’re proud of our youth programming teams that make the impossible happen in each of our young people’s lives.” says Danielle Ellman, CEO of Commonpoint.
