Farantos Carras

Manager, Education Programs

Farantos Sotiris Carras is a first-generation American of Greek and Colombian heritage who moved to New York City from Florida to support the same communities that shaped his upbringing. He serves as the Education Manager for the ESOL dept. in The Bronx, where he works closely with multilingual learners and focuses on expanding access to language education. He is passionate about learning new languages, traveling and building meaningful connections across cultures. One of his most defining accomplishments includes volunteering in Ukraine at the onset of the war, where he traveled to the front lines to deliver urgently needed supplies despite significant language barriers and safety risks. His connection to Commonpoint is rooted in a shared commitment to strengthening communities and improving quality of life for people across all demographics. He is especially driven to connect with individuals who feel lost or overlooked and to help them find support and direction through education and communication. He enjoys working in environments where he can make a direct impact on people’s lives and values the sense of purpose that comes from community based work. A fun fact about him is that he has visited 26 countries, most of them solo, reflecting his curiosity and comfort navigating the world independently.
